Planning Your Safari

When is the best time to visit Tanzania for a safari?
The best time is during the dry season (June to October), when wildlife is easier to spot. However, the green season (November to May) offers lush scenery, fewer crowds, and great birdwatching.
How far in advance should I book my safari?
We recommend booking at least 6–12 months in advance, especially if you’re planning to travel during peak season or want specific accommodations.
Do you offer customized itineraries?
Yes, we tailor safaris to your preferences—whether you want a classic game drive, cultural experiences, beach extensions, or luxury lodges.
Do I need a visa to travel to Tanzania?
Most travelers do. Tourist visas can usually be obtained online (e-visa) or on arrival. We’ll guide you through the process.
What’s included in the safari price?

Our packages typically include accommodation, meals, park fees, game drives, and guide services. International flights, visas, and personal expenses are usually excluded.

On the Safari

What type of vehicles do you use for game drives?
We use 4x4 safari vehicles with pop-up roofs for excellent wildlife viewing and photography.
How many people will be in the vehicle?
We keep groups small to ensure comfort and better viewing. Private vehicles are also available on request.
What kind of wildlife can I expect to see?
Depending on the park and season, you can spot lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, leopards, rhinos, hippos, and hundreds of bird species.
Are the safaris safe?
Yes. Your safety is our priority. Our guides are highly trained and follow strict safety protocols during all game drives and lodge stays.
How long are the game drives each day?
Game drives typically last 3–4 hours in the morning and afternoon, but full-day drives with picnic lunches are also available.

Safety and Security

What types of accommodations do you offer?
We provide a range of options from luxury lodges and tented camps to budget-friendly stays.
Are the lodges and camps safe?
Yes. All accommodations are secure, with staff and guides ensuring your safety at all times.
Will I have access to electricity and Wi-Fi?
Most lodges offer electricity and Wi-Fi, though in remote areas connectivity may be limited.
Do lodges and camps cater to dietary needs?
Yes. With advance notice, we can arrange meals for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary preferences.
Is hot water available for showers?
Yes. Most lodges and camps provide hot showers, although in some remote tented camps it may be on request.

Adventure with Purpose

What does “Adventure with Purpose” mean at Unlocking Tanzania Safaris?

It means every safari you take is more than just wildlife and landscapes — it’s an experience that also helps children in vulnerable circumstances gain access to essential items and educational resources.

Can I participate in community activities during my safari?

Absolutely! While participation isn’t mandatory, you can join the team on visits to local schools or community projects if you’d like to see your support in action.

Are these community visits safe for tourists?

Yes. All visits are carefully planned with local coordinators and follow safety guidelines to ensure a meaningful and secure experience.

How do you choose which community projects to support?

We carefully choose community projects based on their potential to create meaningful and lasting impact for children living in especially difficult circumstances. Our focus is on initiatives that provide basic needs, educational resources, and opportunities for growth. To ensure effectiveness and transparency, we sometimes collaborate with trusted local organizations, such as Stable Life for Tanzania Kids Foundation, whose expertise helps us maximize the positive impact of every contribution from your safari.

How can I see the impact of my safari?

We often share stories, photos, and updates from the children and projects you support, so you can see the difference your trip makes.

Does participating in community projects affect my safari schedule?

Not really. Any visits or activities are optional and designed to fit seamlessly into your itinerary, so you won’t miss your wildlife adventures.
